Tape Ingest

As you'll probably be aware there's a tremendous amount of video material on videotape out there.

Videotapes come in a variety of shapes and sizes, from Digi-Beta to IMX to DV and Mini-DV, Betamax, Hi-8, VHS, VHS-C, and so on. Suffice to say there's lots and lots of formats, ranging from the consumer to the professional.

Quality
The golden rule when converting from one format to another is that the quality of the source is the primary determinant of the end result. If you've got a crap quality source, you'll end up with a crap conversion. There are various techniques that can be used to improve the conversion quality, but they're time consuming, generally only improve appaent quality, and consequently expensive.
